Wedding Planner #1

Some of you might know that my fiancé and I are getting married on the 4th of June this year. I am excited and scared at the same time. Of course I have no doubt about marrying him, but all the planning and having so many people involved just scares me a lot.

On Twitter I held a poll asking if you guys would like to see me doing wedding updates every month on my blog. The majority of you answered with a big YES! - so this post is the beginning of my wedding-series, which I will try to continue every month here on my blog. I write about things I feel, and about the progress in planning - as some sort of a diary. This series is completely in collaboration with my fiancé JT.

First of all: Yes, I already found my dress - and ordered it. Cheap. From China. But surprisingly good quality, and good enough for a once-in-a-lifetime use. It fits me just perfectly, and I am very happy with it. Well okay, I do need to do some dieting to properly fit in it again (blame Christmas). Oh, and No - I will not update any pictures of my dress here before the wedding. It has to stay a bit of a surprise, hasn't it? :)

As some of you might know, I am a HSP and suffer from Dysthymia. But I don't like to emphasize negativity in this topic so if you want to read more about it, just click on the words - it will link to Wikipedia. It means that I will probably need some therapy before the wedding, as I want my mental health to be as okay as possible on the big day. Being a HSP makes that I get easily overstimulated - and a wedding is kind of a big challenge for me to divide my energy over the day.

That brings me to the next topic of conversation: getting in shape! Very important to me is that I don't necessarily lose weight - but rather getting in shape and fit, so that I will have more energy to stay mentally awake during the wedding. At the moment I am fully convinced that I will succeed. I temporarily quit chocolate and candy (it's not as hard as you think!), and eat lots of fruit and vegetables - sometimes processed in a green smoothie. I try to train at the fitness studio at least twice a week. As I find training alone heck boring, I try to go to group sessions instead. At the moment I am doing Bodypump and Zumba which I really enjoy!

Outside the studio, I am doing outdoor activities such as skiing, ice skating and walking. The funny thing is that after only two weeks of drastically changing my lifestyle - I already notice significant difference! I am less tired throughout the day (I also sleep more haha), and my muscles are getting stronger.


To plan our wedding, we use the Moleskine Passions Wedding Planner, and it's great! There is a special Bridal Book included (for my eyes only :p) - and it's all so cute and well organized.

Things we've done so far are:
* Picked a date and location
* Made a draft guest list
* Ordered wedding dress
* Decided on honeymoon (+soon booking the flight tickets)
* Decided on bridesmaids and best man/girl
* Decided on a photographer
* Made a draft budget

If you are married and have some advice for me what to do or not to do before&on the wedding, please tell me - I can use all help and positivity!

  2. Ilse! First of all, big big big congratulations for you and your loved on your engagement and the upcoming marriage! I'm really happy for you both! (I can't wait for the pictures and all the details about the wedding!) I'm so excited! As for the fitness, you girl, are absolutely beautiful! So, you really don't need to worry. Just take your time, relax, and know that in the end, everything will be great! (I'm crossing my fingers, toes and everything else. ha ha) I'm really looking forward to reading your upcoming posts about the wedding planning, etc. And if you ever need me (in this planning madness) you can always tweet to me!
