How watching the sunset helped me fight winter sadness

Vika, Oslo, Norway

I haven't been doing weekly summaries since a long time here, but I feel the need to share my week with you, and I might even bring this series back on the blog every now and then. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by all social media attention and pressure to post good content, that I forget that my blog is also a place where I can share personal things and write down my feelings.

A lot of exciting things have been happening this week. I got lots of new ideas for my blog, but I cannot pursue them yet as I am still studying for my upcoming anatomy exam on Wednesday. Yes, that's another thing I miscalculated. I thought my exam was supposed to be on Thursday but then I figured out it will be on Wednesday instead. Well done girl.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters - Fandom Edition

Vika, Oslo, Norway
Ugly Christmas sweaters are totally hot this season. But how cool would it be to get yourself an ugly Christmas sweater from your favourite book, movie or series!? I have done some research for you and made a list of some of my favourite Fandom Christmas sweaters. And they're not even that ugly!

What To Give A Blogger for Christmas

Vika, Oslo, Norway

Many gift guides are about what to give other family members, but this Bloggers' gift guide will be exclusively for you - the blogger. As many of our real life friends probably have no clue what to give us, I wrote this short and helpful guide which you can show them! The list is composed of items I myself would like to receive as well - a sort of wishlist. A bloggers' gift guide for you and for myself.

Autumn Babbles + My Autumn Favourites

Vika, Oslo, Norway

It's the autumn-time of the year again, which means spending more time inside, cold weather outside, cosiness, blankets and lots of tea. Though here in Norway, autumn is of a very short duration usually - as winter appears with snow sometimes as early as October! The first snow arrived here in Oslo the first week of November. I personally look forward to snow each year, but it's always a surprise how early it's there. Nonetheless, I managed to take a few autumnal photo's for the blog, which I will share in today's post.

G E T T O K N O W M E - T A G

Vika, Oslo, Norway
So, a couple of weeks (or months!?) ago, I got tagged by my lovely friend Lee from Lee Thrifts, to do the Get To Know Me - tag. As I love doing tags, I am of course gonna do this one on the blog!
But before we get started, I first wanna give you a short update about my life.

At the moment I am really busy with my studies. As you might know, I started studying Nutrition about a month ago, and though it is extremely exciting - it's also a lot of hard work. I can simply not find the time to be a fulltime blogger at this point. But I do miss blogging - and the blog community a heck lot :( I have become so terrible at keeping up my social media and keeping up with reading all of your blogs.. :( I hope you can forgive me for now - you surely will not regret it - the fact that I have to commit my time to my studies right now to become a certified nutrition-fysiologist in about three years! It means I am gonna invest loads of time writing nutrition related posts in the future, hopefully helping people and give some advice for those who ask for it. My hope is then to become a fulltime lifestyle blogger with beauty, food and travel as main topics - and some extra focus on nutrition every now and then.

Okay, enough for now - let's go on to the tag!

Copenhagen Make-up Shoplog

Vika, Oslo, Norway
As promised, here is the second post about Copenhagen in which I will show you what I bought during my trip! I don't remember the prices from all the items, but that you can probably find better yourself :)

Sephora Smart liner - eyeliner
I bought this eyeliner at a Sephora shop inside a big make-up mall in Copenhagen city - they had so much make-up brands, it was heaven!
I needed a good eyeliner anyway and thought Sephora was a good option to buy one. Then I saw they had this thing called 'smart liner' - which they promised to be dummy-proof! Since I'm an absolute loser in applying eyeliner neatly, I decided to give this one a go. Excited as I was, I tried the thing out immediately when I came home - just to find myself struggling as much as I did before, so it wasn't that big of a success. Sorry Sephora :(

Copenhagen Impressions + 3 Places You Must Visit

Copenhagen, Denmark
The first weekend of August, I've been on a good old trip to Copenhagen to visit my BF Lise. It was good to have some girlytime again  - without the hubs (he went on a business trip to Switzerland anyway, so no bad feelings :p).

* FunFact: Lise and I became friends when we worked together in Norway, 6 years ago. Our names are very similar and we got teamed up very often - so people started mixing up our names. And we just were friends from the first time we worked a shift together. *

This post will be split into two different posts - this is the first, and the second will be a small make-up shoplog of the things I bought in Copenhagen.

The first thing I wanna share with you in this post, is how amazing Danish interior actually is. I love the minimalistic and industrial/modern style in Lise's home- it made a great photography setting.

I read the 8th Harry Potter book..

Frogner, Oslo, Norway

And in this blogpost you will get my honest opinion about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The book was just out in Norway one day, and my hubby bought it for me the day after. I didn't expect to get my hands on it that soon! I was extremely thankful, and excited to start reading.

I got the book just before I went for a weekend to Copenhagen, so the perfect occassion to read it during the long (8hr) bus journey from Oslo to CPH.

J U L Y · F A V O U R I T E S

Tønsberg, Norway
Now July is almost over, it's time for a wrap-up of my monthly favourites. I'm gonna try to keep writing this series every single month from now on. Shortly summarized, this monthly wrap-up will be a mix of personal favourites and smalltalk.

First of all, I must share a few important things with you:

  • I implemented Disqus as comment system on my blog since a few days. But I have no idea how to make sure Disqus' comment count actually shows up in the 'comment' count line underneath each post on my homepage. Anyone?
  • After a request on my Facebook page - about if I could please start selling some Babylips Pop Art on Ebay, since Maybelline apparently thought the UK population wasn't suitable for the flavours Lemon Zap and Pina Colada Pow(like wtf? Somebody must have seriously misunderstood the idea of doing proper market research in the UK - or have they only asked the wrong people?) - I can hereby announce that I AM SELLING those flavours on Ebay now. Unfortunately, Norway isn't the right country to purchase from if you search for a reasonable price - so I had to put the price up a bit in order to make it worth it for me to sell them. No idea if anything of this is even legal - but then again - I'd just advise Maybelline to do better market research the next time. :)
  • I am glad to tell you that JT and I finally found ourselves an apartment in the middle of Oslo city. The apartment itself is tiny, but the location could not have been better - as it's a prime spot between the National Theatre and the Royal palace. Out of all people interested in renting the place, they decided to choose us - and we couldn't be blessed more. So, in a month from now, we will be doing urban living!

My Thoughts on Tuesday Bassen vs. Zara

Tønsberg, Norway

You’ve probably seen the above picture somewhere on social media already. I posted it on my Instagram as well. On the left you see  pins designed by Tuesday Bassen – on the right Zara’s stolen copy.

Tuesday Bassen
Before about two/three days ago, you’ve probably never even heard of Tuesday Bassen ever in your life. I hadn’t either. I came across her profile on instagram, where she posted this picture. It caught my attention and I decided to look deeper into it.

Review Babylips Popart

Tønsberg, Norway

Recently I came across these cute Babylips Popart lipbalms in the H&M store here. Anyone who knows me a little bit, knows that I am an absolute lipbalm addict, and therefore I couldn't resist taking these ones home with me.
The Babylips Popart come in five different flavours: Lemon Zap, Blueberry Boom, Grapefruit Zing, Pina Colada Pow and Bubblegum Pop. However, I only bought four of them - as the Bubblegum Pop one is pink, and I already have two pink Babylips in my collection which I barely use.

Hurray Ilse Daniëlle = 2 years!! + Mini Giveaway// ENDED

Hello lovelies,
I've been blogging for two years now and my amount of followers has increased amazingly. I'm really glad and thankful for all of you who take the time to visit my blog and to support me. I found that it was about time to host my first ever giveaway on ilsedanielle.com.

11 Useful Blog Apps for Android

Hello loyal readers, and Happy February!! I can't believe the first month of 2016 went so quickly. I had planned on doing some outfit shoots outside but since it's insanely cold and snowing here in Norway, I decided to skip that for now. Okay, let's get to the topic of this post.

I think the majority of bloggers use an iPhone. Nevertheless, I use an Android phone. I have always used Android, and I am very content with it. I have had my hands on an iPhone too, and I know how the things work - and yes I might even switch to Apple after a while - but for now I am a happy owner of a beautiful Sony Xperia Z3. My main reason for using this phone is that the screen size is huge (5.2 inches) and no iPhone device has exceeded that size as far as I know. I like having a big screen to work on. I do also own an iPad which I only use for gaming and not so much for blogging.

I know blogging on a phone might be a bit of a difficulty as it's just a lot smaller and it doesn't edit so smoothly as on a laptop - but as an avid blogger you might wanna use your phone as an editing tool on the go. In a never ending pool of app supply it can be hard to find the right apps to use for blogging. In this post I made a list of apps I use myself for blogging. Some of the apps might be available for iPhone as well.

Wedding Planner #1

Some of you might know that my fiancé and I are getting married on the 4th of June this year. I am excited and scared at the same time. Of course I have no doubt about marrying him, but all the planning and having so many people involved just scares me a lot.

On Twitter I held a poll asking if you guys would like to see me doing wedding updates every month on my blog. The majority of you answered with a big YES! - so this post is the beginning of my wedding-series, which I will try to continue every month here on my blog. I write about things I feel, and about the progress in planning - as some sort of a diary. This series is completely in collaboration with my fiancé JT.

Liebster Award

A few months ago I've been nominated for the Liebster  Award by both Lee from Lee Thrifts and Kaci from Earth to Kace. Thank you both so much for the nomination!

Because of the November blogchallenge, and the hectic Christmas time, I hadn't been able to write about the award - until now.

First, let me introduce you. What exactly is the Liebster Award? I must say that I hadn't heard of it either before I got nominated. The Liebster Award is an award given by bloggers to other -smaller- bloggers. As a (beginning) blogger, being nominated for the Award can be very beneficial, as it drives traffic to your blog - from the bigger blog that nominated you. The Award only exists on the internet - as some sort of chain that you can either choose to pass on, or to interrupt.

My Christmas Holiday || Part 2

Part two of my Christmas Holiday is finally here! Better late than never I'd say. For new year's - we'd been invited by some of our friends in Copenhagen. As some of you might know, I've done a summer school in Copenhagen for a month in 2014 - so for me it felt good to be back again! I absolutely love Copenhagen, and this was the first time that my fiancé and I got the chance to properly see the city. We were only there for three full days - as we traveled on the first and the last day.

To get there, we took the bus from Oslo to Copenhagen, all the way down to Sweden. On our way we drove through Göteborg, Lund and Malmö. When we departed from Oslo, it was absolutely boiling hot in the bus, as there was something wrong with the airconditioning. It was very humid, and I could barely breath. It was actually quite scary. Luckily we got to change bus in Göteborg, so the rest of out journey we had some better comfort.

Glossybox Norway - December 2015

I know this post is a bit late, but my December was packed with other things, so I simply didn't find the time to do this post. So, here's my update on the Glossybox I got in December 2015. This box was called the 'Positivity Box' and the goodies were packed in a cute pink decorated box with inspirational quotes on it. When I opened the box, I was welcomed by this positive quote 'On a scale from 1 to 10, you're an 11'.

The box felt very heavy - as it contained 5 full size items this month! Curious what was inside? Keep reading!

My Cinema Visits 2015

In 2015, I had a whole new cinema-experience. Do you know that feeling when you're sitting ready to watch the film but first have to go through 15 minutes of cinema advertorials and trailers for upcoming films? And that, with every trailer, you think or say to your neighbour ''We HAVE to see that film too!!"? Well, my fiancé and I decided to just -YOLO- go to every film we wanted to watch this year! So these are the films I've seen in the cinema in 2015. I'm not sure if I put them in chronological order, but that doesn't matter. I will also tell you if I recommend the films or not!

My Resolutions for 2016

H A P P Y  N E W Y A R !!!

I spent my newyears' in Copenhagen with good friends and my fiancé. Therefore I haven't been able to post new updates, unfortunately. I had some posts planned for after Christmas, but I couldn't make it anymore to post them before departure. I will post them over January now, and hope you will still enjoy reading them! :) I am gonna make two posts about my Christmas holiday: One about my Christmas + a little haul of things I got - (I got a lot of presents but I don't like to brag about them, so I will only show a few of them on here) and one post about my time in Copenhagen.

For now, I will tell you about some of my newyear's resolutions. I've never managed to stick to my resolutions very long in the past years, lol - but let's give the 'New Year, New Me' bullshit mindset a try. I divided my resolutions in five different categories and will describe them shortly.
