Christmas Tag

Hello and M E R R Y  C H R I S T M A S to you all! I am very sorry that I haven't posted any updates for more than a week now. I was planning on uploading a video of me doing the Christmas Tag, but then I felt so insecure about uploading it that I decided not to do it but just answer the questions here instead. It was the first time that I tried making a video, and it worked out quite well; I learned how to edit in iMovie and got some good edit skills. However, I found it a bit too awkward to upload it to Youtube and share here on my blog. I am gonna intensify practising talking to a camera, so I feel less awkward and become more confident. For now, I hope you enjoy reading my answers on the Christmas Tag!

What's your favourite Christmas song?
This is definitely Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens. I like it because it's so happy and the up-tempo beats make me wanna dance everytime I hear it. But I also like Driving Home For Christmas from Chris Rea, and Christmas songs sung by Elvis Presley.

What's your favourite Christmas film?
Almost every Christmas we watch a James Bond film with the family, but I think I prefer just watching Harry Potter for Christmas, hehe. :)

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes, but that's a long time ago. As you know, I'm from the Netherlands - and there's not often snow during winter. Now I live in Norway, you'd think I should have a white Christmas here, but unfortunately I haven't had a white Christmas here either. :(

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Uuuh, lemmethink. Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blixen? And Rudolph! Were that all?

Do you have an advent calendar?
YES! I do have two advent calendars to be exact. One cheap one with cardboard chocolates in them, and a more expensive one from Smarties. My fiancé and I thought it'd be a fun idea to buy two calendars this year and share them. So we both open one each day and change calendars the next day.

What would be your dream place to visit during the holidays?
Maldives? Bahamas? Gran Canaria? Seriously, anywhere where it's nice and warm, sunny and beachy would be the perfect place to go for me during the holidays. Norway is so cold!

What's your Christmas read?
For this year this is gonna be The Hobbit. It's a small book with a genius writing style, so for me it's the perfect Christmas read.

Do you open presents on Christmas Eve?
Yes, who doesn't? In Norway we open them on the 24th - Christmas eve. Is it different in your country?

Your favourite festive food/sweet treat?
I like eating luxuous meat such as rabbit or turkey, but in Norway we eat lamb and pork as traditional Christmas dinner. But my favourite would be rabbit or duck for meat and a good salad.
My favourite sweet treat is defenitely pepperkaker! I baked them myself this Christmas, for the first time ever. Check out the recipe here.

What's the best present you ever got for Christmas?
It's hard to name just one present, I really like all presents I got, and am so thankful for all of them as well! If I had to name one, it would be my new camera I got this Christmas. It's a Nikon D5200 and something I wanted for so long!

Your favourite Christmas tradition?
In Norway we have a very funny one: On Christmas eve, before we open the presents, we dance around the Christmas tree. We hold hands and sing songs and dance in a circle around the tree. It's absolutely hilarious!

What's your best Christmas holiday memory?
That would be the big move from the Netherlands to Norway, december 2014. I moved to Norway on my birthday (22dec) so right before Christmas, and it was the first time I experienced such a big Christmas celebration - with my fiancé and new family. It was the best holiday memory so far!

Are you a pro-present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
Perfectionist as I am, I always make sure presents are at least wrapped correctly, but I am not a pro at decorating them nicely.

When did you realize the truth about Santa?
In the Netherlands we used to celebrate Sinterklaas on 5 december. Sinterklaas is a much bigger thing than Christmas in the Netherlands, so as a child I grew up believing in Sinterklaas instead of Santa. They are very similar though, I think I couldn't even tell the difference back then. With Sinterklaas, we put our shoe (with carrot/apple for the horse) beside the chimney - because we believe Sinterklaas rides the roofs on his horse at night, and gives us candy in our shoe. I remember one day my brother and I just caught my mom replacing the apple with candy and that's when we figured out Sinterklaas wasn't real.

What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Being with my fiancé and family and celebrating Christmas in Norway is just the best. In the Netherlands we don't celebrate Christmas very big - some don't celebrate it at all - so I am not very used to it, but here in Norway Christmas is a HUGE thing, and I really like celebrating it big! I love picking presents for the entire family and piling them up under the tree

Let me know if you also did this tag on your blog, I'd love to read your answers! I will soon post about the presents I got for my birthday and Christmas, the Liebster Award, Cinema visits and December reads - so keep watching my blog :)
